Deadlift Variations - Depends on the purpose!

Deadlift Variations - Depends on the purpose!

Pick things up and put them down - sounds easy enough, right?

Every capable human should be able to pick things up and be resilient enough to do so without injuring yourself. Especially if you live on your own, minimum competency should be 25-40 pounds.

Now, in training settings, we can see a variety of deadlifts - traditional, sumo stance, hex bar, kettlebell, even dumbbell and sandbag variations. All have a purpose and intention.

It also depends on the population and the goals of the client/patient/athlete.

Here, Ryan DeWitt, PT, OCS, CSCS, CF-L2 discusses and compares the traditional deadlift vs the hex bar deadlift.
