Optimizing Your Shoulder Part 4 - Crawl Your Way to Better Shoulder Function
Crawl Your Way to Better Shoulder Function
Crawling is an incredibly effective way to activate and train your shoulders.
Think about this: crawling was the first way any of us truly trained our shoulders, and how we got our core and shoulder blades strong enough to use our arms for other things as we developed from infancy through being a toddler and young child.
If it worked the first time, it's probably going to work again if we utilize it :)
Here, owner, Ryan DeWitt, PT takes Phil Hsu, DPT through a bear crawl exercise.
Through research, we know the serratus is most active in the serratus punch exercise at 120 degrees of flexion, which is about where your shoulder is during a bear crawl. (Probably NOT a Coincidence).
It's important to use patterns your body understands, and more importantly, remembers.
If you're not crawling in your training or warm up, add these in and see how much better everything feels!
